Lewisham - Property For Sale and Rent

Lewisham is seven miles south-east of central London. It sits between Deptford to the north, Blackheath to the east, Catford to the south and Brockley to the west. It is one of the best-connected areas in south-east London with trains, the Docklands Light Railway and numerous bus services to various destinations.

The centre of Lewisham next to the station is continually evolving with new homes being erected at speed. With restaurants, shops and cafes promised for ‘Lewisham Gateway’ Lewisham’s changing landscape is one to watch. A new, colourful sports centre  ‘The Glassmill’ has already opened to great success and the trendy, local summer haunt Model Market, serving great cocktails and food throughout the summer will make you believe you are in hip Dalston. Ladywell is fast catching up with Lewisham’s most desirable areas. Deli’s and coffee shops serving the families in the area who move for the abundance of Victorian housing on offer and the large green open spaces of Hilly Field’s Park.

Connections to the city from Lewisham station are exceptionally quick with travel time to London Bridge in only 11 minutes, Canon Street in 15 minutes, Charing Cross in 17 minutes and Victoria in 25 minutes. The Docklands Light Railway is also a great benefit to the area with journey times from Lewisham to Canary Wharf in 20 minutes and commuters can also take advantage of connections on the Jubilee Line from this route. All this and with Lewisham station also sitting in zone 2, living in Lewisham is a commuters dream.
There are some great schools in the area St Mary's Lewisham CE Primary School, Prendergast Ladywell School and Prendergast Vale School are just a few of the good schools in the area.

Many residents choose to venture into Blackheath or Greenwich for a plethora of restaurants available but you can still keep it local for a good meal. Levante is a very good Turkish restaurant in the area
which serves great, authentic fayre as well and the legendary Maggies is a  Irish café serving tasty food at reasonable prices. New restaurants Rox Burger on Lee High Road was voted UK’s Best Burger 2016 on Tripadvisor and there’s even talk of award winning restaurant chain Polpo heading to Lewisham in the future.

Mixed in with Lewisham’s Victorian and Edwardian houses and modern flats are shared ownership options offered on some of the many new developments currently under construction. The most attractive local houses are found in the numerous conservation areas but remember the closer to Blackheath you go, the pricier the properties become.
